This privacy notice is issued by ASO International, Inc. (the "Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).

This privacy notice may be amended from time to time for the purpose of improvement, etc.

We, in accordance with the applicable EU and Member State regulations on data protection, and in particular, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the "GDPR"), process the personal data of doctors, dentists, patients and others to whom those regulations apply ("you"). Your privacy and the security of your personal data are very important to us. The Company uses your personal data as described below.

Our processing of your personal data

If we or any third party from which we obtain information have obtained your prior unambiguous consent to our processing, we will obtain and process the personal data you consent to for the purposes you consent to (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). With respect to the personal data of patients, we will basically obtain and process such personal data based on the prior express consent of the patients (Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR).

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by the method we separately designate at the time we seek your consent. Such withdrawal of your consent will not affect the legality of processing carried out based on your consent prior to withdrawal thereof.

We obtain and process the following categories of your personal data in case it is necessary for us to do so in order to perform our obligations under contracts based on which we provide products and services to you (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR).

We, in order to comply with the legal obligations we are subject to (Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR), obtain and process the following categories of your personal data for the purposes of handling inquiries from you and/or exercise of your rights based on the GDPR or applicable data protection regulation of EU or its Member States.

We obtain and process your following personal data for the following purposes in order to pursue our legitimate interests in the manufacture of dental laboratory products and provision of other services by us or our overseas subsidiaries, to improve the quality of our services, to conduct our business activities and to operate our business (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). There will be a case where we process your personal data for purposes other than those for which your personal data was obtained, so long as these purposes are of the same category. We keep your personal data only for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes described above. The specific period of storage is determined by taking into consideration the purpose for which the personal data is collected and processed, the nature of the personal data, and the legal or business necessity for keeping the personal data.

We do not conduct any decision-making based solely on automated data processing, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

If the provision of personal data is a statutory or contractual requirement, or a requirement necessary to enter into a contract, we will separately notify you whether the data subject is obligated to provide personal data and the possible consequences of failure to provide such data.

In addition to the data concerning patients’ health, we process personal data of special categories, such as religious belief or health conditions, etc., in accordance with the special standards specified in Article 9 or 10 of the GDPR.

We obtain your personal data directly from you or indirectly through the following third parties:

Our sharing of your personal data with third parties

We share your personal data with third parties for reasons such as the manufacture of dental laboratory products and provision of other services, product development, service quality improvement, sales activities, and business operations. We share personal data with our group companies (ASO INTERNATIONAL MANILA, INC., ASO INTERNATIONAL HAWAII, INC. and ASO INTERNATIONAL USA, INC.) In these cases, the company that receives your personal data uses your personal data in accordance with this privacy notice and their respective privacy policies.

In addition to the foregoing, we may share personal data with delivery companies, IT service providers, and business partners.

Cross-border transfer of your personal data

We transfer your personal data to Japan, where the Company is located. The European Commission determined that Japan ensures an adequate level of data protection.

The Company may also transfer your personal data to the Republic of the Philippines, where one of our overseas group companies is located. In this case, we will have the company receiving your personal data sign and enforce a Standard Contractual Clause (SCC) to ensure the fair and lawful use of such data.

In case certain legal conditions apply, you also have the right to have us erase the personal data that concerns you without undue delay (Articles 17 of the GDPR).

In case certain legal conditions apply, you have the right to have us restrict the processing of your personal data (Article 18 of the GDPR).

Objection to processing of personal data

In case certain legal conditions apply, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you (Article 21 of the GDPR).

Data portability of personal data

You have the right to receive the personal data concerning you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to transmit such data to another controller without hindrance from us (Article 20 of the GDPR).

Not being subject to automated decision-making

You have the right not to be subject to decision (including profiling) based solely on automated processing of data, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you (Article 22 of the GDPR).
